How I Made Over $9K in 21 Days Driving as a Courier & Medical Courier

I Didn’t Start Courier Work Because I Wanted Another Job
When I started working as a courier, I wasn’t trying to create another full-time job for myself.
My husband and I had opened our event space, and starting a new business without loans or outside funding meant we were paying for everything ourselves — rent, tables, chairs, decorations, pipe and drape, equipment, supplies, and more.
I needed another source of income that could help cover those expenses while allowing our business to stay open and continue growing.
That’s when I started taking courier routes.
I was working medical courier opportunities, applying consistently, and using multiple delivery apps at the same time.
Then something happened that completely changed the way I looked at this industry:
👉 I made over $9,000 in just 21 days.
But I didn’t make that money from one magical app or one perfect route.
I followed a simple process: get qualified, apply consistently, use multiple income sources, and keep showing up long enough for the opportunities to start stacking.
In this post, I’m breaking down the exact steps I took — and the same steps I recommend for someone trying to get started today.

🚗The Biggest Mistake New Couriers Make
A lot of people get into medical courier work and immediately ask:
“What app should I download?”
That’s only one part of it.
Apps can help you make money, but if you really want to maximize your earning potential, you need several different ways to find work.
I didn’t depend on one company.
I didn’t depend on one route.
I didn’t depend on one app.
And I definitely didn’t sit around waiting for one app to send me something.
I treated finding work like the job.
That meant preparing myself, applying every day, using multiple platforms, and putting myself in front of as many opportunities as possible.
Here’s exactly how I did it.
📈Step-by-Step: What I Did to Make Over $9K in 21 Days
Step 1: Update Your Resume
Before you start applying everywhere, make sure your resume actually positions you for courier work.
Your resume doesn’t need to be complicated.
But it should highlight experience that shows you are:
Reliable
Comfortable driving
Good with time management
Able to follow instructions
Professional with customers
Familiar with delivery or logistics
Comfortable working independently
Even if you’ve never worked as a medical courier before, you may already have transferable experience.
Customer service, transportation, warehouse work, rideshare, delivery work, healthcare, logistics, and even administrative experience can all help.
The goal is to make it easy for a courier company to look at your resume and understand why you would be a dependable driver.
Step 2: Get Certified
If you want to work in the courier and medical courier industry, you need to start understanding the expectations that come with handling healthcare-related deliveries.
Depending on the company and type of route, you may see requirements involving:
HIPAA training
Bloodborne Pathogens training
OSHA-related training
Background checks
Drug testing
Proper specimen handling certifications
Chain-of-custody procedures
Not every company has the exact same requirements, so always read the job posting or contract carefully.
But getting your basic certifications completed early can help you become more competitive when opportunities come up.

Step 3: Apply to 25–50 Opportunities Every Day
This is the part people don’t want to hear.
You have to apply.
And then apply again.
When I was trying to find work, I wasn’t submitting two applications and waiting three weeks for someone to call me.
I was applying consistently.
My goal was to get my information in front of as many companies an apps as possible.
If you’re serious about getting started, aim for:
25–50 opportunities per day.
That can include applications, independent contractor opportunities, route openings, direct company applications, and courier platforms.
A few companies and places you can start researching include:
Dropoff
MedSpeed
Lab Logistics
Associated Couriers
Medical Couriers Inc.
You can also use Indeed, Zip Recruiter, CB Driver and Linkedin to search terms like:
“medical courier independent contractor near me”
“medical courier routes near me”
“specimen courier jobs”
“independent contractor delivery driver”
“medical delivery driver”
The more qualified opportunities you apply to, the more chances you give yourself to get hired or offered routes.

Step 4: Use 2–3 Delivery Apps at the Same Time
This was another major part of my strategy.
I didn’t rely on one delivery platform.
I used multiple apps so I had more opportunities coming in throughout the day.
A few courier and delivery platforms you can research include:
Roadie
Curri
Dispatch
Frayt
Senpex
The availability of work can vary by location, so one app may be busy in your market while another one is slow.
That’s exactly why I recommend having at least 2–3 apps available.
If one app is quiet, you can check another.
If you already have a route, you may be able to find additional opportunities that make sense around your schedule.
The goal is to avoid depending on one source of income.

Step 5: Show Up Every Day — Even When You Don’t See Results Yet
This might be the most important step in this entire blog.
Because there will be days when it feels like nothing is happening.
You might apply to 30 companies and hear nothing.
You might download an app and see no available routes.
You might send emails and get no response.
That does not necessarily mean the strategy isn’t working.
You need enough consistency to give the opportunities time to show up.
I kept applying.
I kept checking apps.
I kept looking for routes.
I kept putting myself in position to get work.
And eventually, the opportunities started stacking.
One route became another.
One app became multiple apps.
One opportunity led to another opportunity.
That’s how I was able to make over $9,000 in 21 days.
Not because every day was perfect.
Because I kept showing up even when i didn’t see any results!
Step 6: Stop Thinking Only About Routes — Start Thinking About Government Contracts
This is where my business eventually changed completely.
Courier apps and routes helped me make money.
But eventually I started asking:
What happens when I stop driving?
That question led me into private and government contracting.
Instead of only looking for individual routes, I started looking for organizations that needed an entire delivery service.
Government agencies.
Hospitals.
UPS.
Courier Delivery Companies
Amazon
Companies purchasing medical supplies.
And once I learned how to find opportunities, understand solicitations, price services, and submit bids, I started seeing a completely different side of the industry.
I began securing four- and five-figure contracts with Government Contracting Partners and eventually turned what started as courier work into a six-figure business.
That is the bigger opportunity I want new couriers to understand.
Your Goal Doesn’t Have to Be Driving Forever
You can start with:
Apps → Routes → Direct Clients → Contracts
That’s the progression.
Your car may help you get started.
But your goal can eventually become building a company that generates revenue without you personally having to make every delivery.
💬Lessons I Wish I Knew When I Started
1. You Need More Than One Source of Work
Never make one app, one company, or one route your entire business.
Give yourself options…lots of them.
2. Apply More Than You Think You Need To
If you apply to three opportunities and stop, you’re giving yourself three chances.
If you consistently apply to 25–50 qualified opportunities, you dramatically increase the number of doors you’re knocking on.
3. Get Your Certifications Done Early
Don’t wait until you find the perfect opportunity to start preparing.
If a company requires HIPAA, Bloodborne Pathogens, or other training, you want to be ready.
4. Apps Are a Tool — Not the Entire Business
Apps helped me generate income.
But I eventually learned that direct clients and contracts could create bigger opportunities.
5. Consistency Matters More Than One Good Day
Some days are busy.
Some days are slow.
What matters is whether you keep putting yourself in position for the next opportunity.
6. Think Bigger Than Being the Driver
There’s nothing wrong with driving routes.
That’s exactly how I started.
But if you want to build a company, eventually you have to think about systems, subcontractors, clients, and contracts.

Your earnings will depend on your hustle, drive, location, availability, routes, apps, experience, expenses, demand, and the opportunities available in your market.

It’s:
Put yourself in front of enough opportunities that you give yourself a real chance to earn.
Update your resume.
Get certified.
Apply every day.
Use multiple apps.
Keep showing up.
And once you understand the business, start thinking beyond individual routes.
